Colours & Finishes
Wood is more adaptable than almost any other material. This also applies to colour design. At Sorpetaler, you can get windows and doors in both classic and unusual RAL colours, as well as in our very own house colours.
Long-lasting finishes for wood windows
On the exterior, wood windows are exposed to the elements and require a very durable finish. That is why we make use of a multi-layer structure.
Impregnation
In a first step, we treat the wood in a flow-coating system with a water-based, pigmented wood preservative impregnation. Flow coating allows the agent to deeply penetrate the wood, providing optimal protection against blue stain and rot.
Intermediate coating
In a second step, the wood receives a water-based, insulating intermediate coating. Depending on the type of wood, this is done by hand or in the flow-coating system.
Intermediate sanding & joint sealing
Before the windows and doors are painted or glazed, they are lightly sanded to smooth out the surfaces and edges. We also apply a joint sealer to protect against water penetration.
Varnishing & coating
In a final step, the wood receives a water-based wood stain or an opaque final coat. This is applied by hand.
